So Mrs. LFD is wondering where the Jews got matzah from. No ,not the story you know, but what the first Jews in Mitzrayim who were commanded to eat the Korbon Pesach with matzah and marror ate. If they didn't leave yet, the story of the dough not rising and the jews having to eat matzah happened after the eating of the first Korbon Peasach, so where did the matzah come from? That's Mrs. LFD's question.
As for me, I want to know what how they checked their Romaine lettuce for bugs. Was BODEK available in Goshen? (yes I know they used horseraddish!)

They didn't get the Torah yet, so bug were good eating. As for where they got the Matzoh, they baking it of course. They were being fed Matzoh as slaves anyway.
Even after they received the Torah, they never ONCE filtered their water!
That's because it came from a rock, not a reservoir.

matzah was a staple bread and is mentioned elsewhere in תנך (the first time is with לוט, who fed it to the angelic deputation that visited him). as child ish stated, they were eating matzah all along anyway.

I try to read parsha hashavua so that i can keep up at the shabbos table. when I read that when the jews were commanded to make the karbon pesach it was also commanded to eat it with matzah and maror. As posted we usually learn that we eat it because we left in a hurry. Boy was i surprised to find out we not only ate it before we left but it was part of the command!
I believe another explanation is that they ate all types of bread in Egypt, but when they were told that exodus was happening very soon they baked only the type that could be done in a hurry. They then had the Matzah which they used for Korbon Pesach and in the begining of their exodus from Egypt proper.(Not knowing when they would have the opportunity to bake again)
loz/child ish -If they were eating matzah all along anyway, would there be a reason to indicate it specifically in the pasukim? Wouldn't it then be a given and unecessary to point out.
kosel-interesting. it would make sense to make the bread that baked the quickest but again they were told to make mazah.
I just really wonder why we don't just learn we ate the matzah because it was commanded rather than we didn't have time to let the bread rise (meaning we intended to let it rise.)

I thought they baked the matzah themselves because it was just too expensive to pay $22.00/lb. for it at the bakery. Also, there were not enough Russian women available to roll out the other kind of dough either - גילמור

nah. there were no chasidim yet in mitzrayim and the cheaper machine shmura was still considered kosher enough.
