"Clothes Make The Woman" or "Can I See That Again?"

This post is inspired by SuperRaisy!

Here is part of the story. Mrs. LFD made a shidduch between a very close friend and a girl we heard about through a friend of Mrs. LFD. They are very individualistic and wanted to have the wedding on a beach. OK, the finding of a place that had a beach in the time frame that was needed took some time. But now, Mrs. LFD is on the quest of a lifetime: To find the perfect gown to wear to a beach wedding that will make her happy. Now good for me, Mrs. LFD doesn’t love shopping, but thanks to the wonders of high speed internet, I get the “can you look at this and tell me if you like it?” over and over again. Now to me, Mr. Shiny Pants, what you wear as long as it’s nice it's fine with me. But with women, it’s a lot more serious. Mrs. LFD found a nice gown in our price range online at Chadwicks. I finally thought my days of looking at women’s catalogs online were over. No. No, of course, the zipper was not sewn in properly so the quest goes on. And lucky for me online companies selling dresses update frequently, so I’m often looking at the same things and being asked, “Was that here yesterday?”, or seeing if an item has gone on or off sale. I truly sympathize with you guys who get shlepped along, and I hope Mrs. LFD finds whatever she’s looking for soon, and suggestions are always appriciated. Whatever it is, I know people will be looking at her instead of the Kallah. At least I will be…

It's a random Chadwicks model.

I'm honored to be cited as an inspiration!
Please tell Mrs. LFD that David's Bridal has some beautiful dresses at good prices.
Whatever she chooses, I hope you'll post a picture of the dress so that we can see.

SuperRaizy- Thank you! I will check it out. I think that I did initially.
I'm looking for something that doesn't need too much tznius work. While I ordered from Chadwick, I have been keeping my eye on Nordstrom. They have beautiful items and some lend themselves to just a shell. (not all gowns that people have been putting shells under are anymore tznius after they put on the shell! that could be a whole post.)Anyway, they have nice prices too (not anymore than the frum stores.)In case all else fails, I do actuallty have a really nice top that I would just have to buy a flowy black skirt for, so all is not lost. Thanks for your good wishes everyone.

i so know know what this means. my mrs is looking for a dress for my brother's wedding.

she's been looking a lot at this site where you can build your own dress:
http://www.cocomyles.com/

you can mix and match styles, colors, fabrics, decorative additions, etc.

what fun.

LOZ-been there done that. I never ordered from there because I was afraid of how it would look. Tell her to try nordstroms too. Good Luck! Maybe I should make a day and go shopping with her.

Mrs. LFD: You can use any gown you want. The trick is to get the Beach Patrol to drive you to the Chuppah and back!!

LOZ- sounds like a plan. However, I did look in all the nearby stores so unless she wants a black dress we need to go on a road trip and find some stores with color.
btw, is 100 bucks an hour reasonable? I actually HATE shopping.

I'm thinking of going the Coco Myles route for that weddingm half out of curiosity - i want to see how it turns out!

Please no black. i will never understand why Jewish women - at least in Brooklyn - seem to think that black is the only tznius color. isn't there a gemara that says a man is obligated to buy his wife colorful clothing?

seriously. i made a lot of my friends promise not to wear black to my wedding.

I hope she found the gown by now.
I hadn't imagined you can buy gowns and fancy stuff online. So far I never wore a gown for a wedding, since no sibling of mine got married. But for my classmates wedding I switch off between 2 outfits. I bought the parts at a store near me. They were expensive though.

LFD: good artwork, lol
